1-800 by: Logic

Music can make you happy, sad or can get you amped up.  Slower music can get you to think more about life and relax you. Faster music can make you want to dance. Different songs can mean different things to different people. That’s what makes music great!   I personally like fast music more but both are pleasing to me.

I will use a song by logic named 1-800.   It’s More of a slow paced song and makes you think about what’s happening in life. I really like that it has a message I think it’s a good message.  I love the beat of the song as well. The song itself is talking about suicide. The title of the song is the first few numbers of the suicide hotline number. The lyrics of the song are about how he wants to kill himself and how no one cares about him. As the song goes on he started talking to people and than they convince him to not want to commit suicide. He doesn’t think people care about him because no one’s calling his phone and people dont talk to him. “I never had a place to call my own, I never had a home, ain’t nobody calling my phone where you been? Where you at? What’s on your mind? They say every life precious but nobody care about mine”. When someone talks to him and he feels loved, he finally wants to be alive. They tell him “When your there, chest to chest with a lover, its holding on, through the roads long, and seeing light in the darkest things and when you stare at your reflection finally knowing who it is I know that you will thank god you did”.

What the lyrics mean to me is that if your going through a hard time  something like this you have to talk to someone like he did and don’t do anything stupid.  It Also means that people do care about you and that’s why he talked to people that could help him realize his life matters. This helped him. I believe that everyone was put here  on earth for a reason and has a purpose to do something with their life. Don’t cut your life short, find your purpose.

The reason I picked this song first off is because Ii feel this was a good song to pick because of its message. It’s a great topic to talk about. I think this song can help prevent suicide  some of the ways I’ve mentioned. I hope this song can touch many people young and old who might be going through something that they might not understand and give them the courage to talk to someone and know they are loved. If this song can save lives it’s worth listening to.  Music is always nice to hear no matter what mood your in. It will always put you in a different mood or a better mood. We can learn so much from this song and so many others.
